Awarding of honours
On High Women’s Day, dedicated citizens in Tyrol were honoured for their extraordinary achievements. Several members of Mountain Rescue Tyrol were among those honoured.
We congratulate all those honoured and would like to thank all mountain rescuers for their tireless efforts!
The following people were honoured by the province of Tyrol:
Egon Kaufmann (picture 2) from the mountain rescue local office Landeck received the Lifesaving Medal, which is awarded for heroic deeds in which human lives were saved. Egon was honoured for rescuing a person from an avalanche in steep terrain in the Axamer Lizum.
Mathias Außerdorfer (Matrei/East Tyrol branch), Rene Amraser, Bernhard Gratz, Christoph Bacher, Michael Gratz, Johannes Holzer, Gerald Oberhauser, Clemens Payr, Anton Riepler, Leo Rogl and Florian Schnell from mountain rescue local office the Kals am Großglockner were also honoured with the Lifesaving Medal (picture 1). They received the medal for their services in rescuing three people from an alpine emergency on the Großglockner.
