Refresher course for emergency doctors
On April 13, an emergency training took place in Ellmau am Wilden Kaiser, which was dedicated to a scenario in which an explosion occurred at the mountain station, causing the mountain railway to come to a standstill. There were several injured and trapped people in the mountain station who required medical treatment. In addition, people were trapped in the gondolas and required rescue.
The aim of the exercise was to train the emergency teams in a realistic scenario, as operations of this kind are not an everyday occurrence. There was a particular focus on coordination between different aid- and emergency-organisations and improving communication.
The Red Cross from Kufstein, Kitzbühel and Schwaz, the Samaritans from Kirchbichl, the Ellmau mountain railway, the fire brigades from Ellmau, Söll, Scheffau and Going, and the Scheffau mountain rescue service all took part in the training.
After successfully completing the exercise, the participants were able to exchange ideas over a good meal provided by the field kitchen.
